To the left is a photos from the Toronto eco-conference I attended in November. The topic of focus was on our food system and the vegan solution I was privileged enough to speak along side a Medical Doctor, Brain Scientist and Climatologist. The conference as a whole was a great success as we had 40 people sign up for the 21 day vegan challenge! This made the trip well worth my time. A huge congrats to those 40 individuals who helped to reduce their risk of heart disease, cancer and diabetes along with feeding hundred of starving children and sparing the lives of many animals! Awesomeness in a nutshell Well here’s a well overdue update of my Cancun trip. I have to say it was just an amazing trip all around. Not only were we situated a few steps from the beach, but we had (in my opinion) perfect weather. It was probably far too cold for others…. Although I was banned from doing runs longer than 45 minutes in order enable some, what I like to call “forced recovery”, I actually enjoyed my short runs/walks along the beach every morning before enjoying some fresh papaya or pineapple. As a volunteer for the UN Climate Conference I was assigned several different tasks while I was there which ranged from giving interview to data base building! I attended several of the forums including the communication forum and had the opportunity to meet some incredible individuals including Mr Ray Chaplin, a very unique and inspiring athlete/adventurer from South Africa. As a seasoned adventurer, On the 15th of May 2011, Mr Chaplin will set off from Cape Agulhas [the southernmost tip of Africa], on a quest that will see him travel over 75,000km [50,000miles]. His goal is to undertake and complete… THE FIRST HUMAN-POWERED, VERTICAL CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF THE WORLD…. ….only slightly ambitious I’d say…. I also had the chance to meet and chat with Rich Roll, another freak of an athlete who, like me, is powered solely on plants. Rich was there accepting the Greenest hero award for being a superstar AND vegan. As an ultra-distance ironman athlete, Rich was named one of the 25 fittest guys in the world by Men’s Fitness Magazine. He’s also pretty darn good at what he does placing 11th in the 2008 World Ultraman championships, clocking the 2nd fastest swim split and 3rd overall American. So, back to Canada now (also a pretty cool Country)…. Most recently I’ve been working my butt off not only in training, but also at my computer working to get my business plan completed. I’ve also been working on a new website. I am so close to having my full life coaching certfication and will be writing the last of my exams and oral practicum next month. Then all that’s left to do is apply for International Coaching Federation certification and I’ll be up and running! So stay tuned when I announce my new site! See also below some of the reasons I’m vegan. Read all of them and feel free to write me! Let me know which statistics, if any, surprise you? |
