Fall Fresh Air

Fall is here and I am back into the swing of things after taking a two week semi-break when the track season had ended. I’m well into my base endurance training now and my next event is the Royal Victoria Marathon, 8km race. This event is always on thanksgiving weekend and we usually have a load of guests over. My Mom announced to us yesterday that this would be the first year that we wouldn’t be having a turkey. Wow! And I didn’t even prompt that one. It seems like the longer I’m around the more vegetarian my family becomes…. but I never expected this! Our first vegetarian thanksgiving…imagine that :D

I’ve been involved in a couple of different events in the past couple of weeks, check it out.

The first I attended was a celebratory event in Vancouver for Clean Air Champions. HSBC is the main sponsor for our Clean Air Achievers program, and so we had the “award the big cheque day.” Clean Air Champions also hosted a tandem bike race in which one clean air champion was partnered with a Vancouver media personality. It was not a surprise they partnered me with Fred Lee, personality of CBC Radio Early Edition. I always run into Fred at the most interesting and random events. Below are a few shots:

The other event I helped to organize and partake in was “Inspirations for a Beautiful Earth,” which was a eco conference for kids and their families. We had a great line-up of speakers including a climatologist, behavior scientist, childhood education teacher trainer and myself. The conference was based around the top solutions for global warming including a plant based diet and a more sustainable food system.
